Message
from the President
As
the new President of the Autism Society of Northern California,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jenna Ball and I live
in Chico. I attended Chico State from 2002-2007 graduating with
a degree in Liberal Studies and Child Development, with and emphasis
in Special Education. I have worked with children on the autism
spectrum for the past 4 years as a socialization aide, para-professional
and respite care provider, and as some of you may know, I am a past
resource director for the autism society.
I first became interested in autism when a boy I took care of was diagnosed. I saw first hand how it affected the family and was there through program placement. I watched as he progressed and became more intrigued when I found out how prevalent autism is, and how unaware most people were of its impact.
My involvement in our autism community began when I was introduced to the Little Red Hen through a special education course at Chico State, and from there I gained knowledge of the programs the Little Red Hen offers children and adults with autism.
I have enjoyed working with many families in the area and look forward to serving you all to the best of my ability. I believe the Autism Society offers wonderful resources and together we can make a difference in how autism is perceived by others and educate the community in the many issues autism faces. I am open to ideas and input to better serve our community, and am eager to meet your needs.
Jenna Ball
